Status Effect
Elite Buff: Mad
Madness. Takes an extra turn per round. Gains +1 all stats and heals 4 when it gets a kill.
Internal engine status effect. This is the status applied to elite enemies with the Mad modifier. Mad causes the enemy to become enraged with Madness, significantly increasing their attack damage and aggression. The Mad elite gains +1 All Stats Up and heals 4 health on each kill, plus an extra turn per round.
Because Mad elites have Madness, they attack everything indiscriminately, including other enemies. This can work in your favor if the Mad elite is surrounded by other hostiles, as it will waste actions fighting its own allies and potentially farming kills for stat boosts and healing. However, each kill makes it stronger, so a Mad elite that has cleared out weaker enemies becomes a serious threat.
The extra turn per round means Mad elites act twice, doubling their offensive output. Combined with kill-healing and stat growth, leaving a Mad elite alive too long is extremely dangerous. Prioritize bursting it down early before it can accumulate kills. Crowd control effects like Stun and Freeze are valuable for buying time. The boss variant, Elite Buff: Mad (Boss), applies even stronger bonuses.
