Lucy Boss Guide

Overview

Lucy is a mid-chapter miniboss in The Alley who represents the Mage class. Her primary danger is not raw damage but a unique two-turn spell system: she uses her first turn each round to charge a spell and her second turn to cast it. All affected tiles are highlighted with a white exclamation mark during the charge phase, giving you one turn to reposition before the spell lands.

Key Mechanics

Spell Rotation

Lucy has three spells that she cycles through in a fixed order for the first three turns: MC Blizz, MC Flamethrower, and MC Thunder. After the initial rotation, her spell choice may vary.

MC Blizz

Damages enemies and inflicts Freeze in a 2-tile radius around Lucy's position. This is her most dangerous spell because of its wide area of effect. Stay at least 3 tiles away from her when this is charging.

MC Flamethrower

Deals damage and inflicts Burn in a cone directly in front of her. Avoid standing in the cone by moving to her sides or behind her during the charge turn.

MC Thunder

Deals damage in all diagonal directions around her with a chance to inflict Stun. This is her weakest attack since it only hits one tile wide in each diagonal, making it easy to dodge.

Strategy

The charge-then-cast system is Lucy's biggest weakness. Every spell is telegraphed one full turn in advance with highlighted tiles, so you always know exactly where the damage will land. Use the charge turn to move out of the blast zone and reposition for a counterattack.

Surround Lucy when possible, but give each cat space to maneuver. Bunching up is dangerous because MC Blizz can hit your entire group if they are within 2 tiles of her. Spread your cats around her at medium range so at least some of them are always outside the current spell's area of effect.

Since her first three spells follow a fixed order, you can plan your positioning several turns in advance. After MC Blizz, move closer for MC Flamethrower (just avoid the front cone). After MC Flamethrower, avoid diagonals for MC Thunder.

Aggressive burst damage works well because Lucy is fragile for a miniboss. If you can close to melee range during a charge turn and unload abilities, the fight ends quickly.
