Lucy Boss Guide

Overview

Lucy is a mid-chapter miniboss in The Alley who fights using psychic telekinesis. Her primary danger is not raw damage but relentless unit displacement: she can drag or push your cats out of position, separating your healer from your frontline or shoving a melee cat into a hazard. Slow or short-ranged parties will spend most of the fight trying to close a gap she keeps reopening.

Key Mechanics

Telekinesis Displacement

Lucy's core ability repositions one or more of your cats each round. She targets the cats that would otherwise reach her first, pulling them to distant tiles or pushing them into walls. If your healer or mage gets relocated mid-battle it can effectively lose you the fight.

Ranged Suppression

Lucy attacks from range and punishes any cat that wanders into open tiles alone. She benefits from fighting at distance and will reposition herself if you try to corner her. Mobility tools that let you close the gap unexpectedly are more effective than slow advances.

At least one strong ranged attacker is mandatory. Hunter is ideal, dealing solid damage from the same range Lucy prefers. A Thief with teleport or shadow-step abilities can close the gap quickly and apply melee pressure before she can reposition them. Avoid bringing more than one slow melee cat, as displacement will leave them stranded repeatedly.

Step-by-Step Strategy

1. Spread your cats wide at the start. Lucy often targets the closest unit, so spreading formation reduces the chance of a single displacement ruining your whole positioning.

2. Assign a ranged attacker to deal continuous damage from safety. This unit should stay at maximum range and not engage melee.

3. Use mobility abilities to keep melee cats relevant. Any class ability that lets a cat jump, teleport, or dash to an enemy hex is valuable here.

4. End the fight quickly. Lucy's telekinesis becomes increasingly punishing if the fight drags on and your cats are scattered across the arena. Prioritise burst damage over methodical positioning.

Tips

If you are struggling, try running a party of two ranged and one mobile melee. Do not bring three melee cats against Lucy unless you have strong movement abilities on all three.
