Overview
Pyrophina is a giant kaiju cat that invades your home hub at a later stage of the game, following the pattern established by Guillotina. She is significantly more dangerous than Guillotina and her defining mechanic is arena-wide fire attacks. Unlike Guillotina’s physical strikes, Pyrophina’s burn damage is environmental and covers large sections of the board simultaneously. Defeating her drops the Scalding Orb, a quest item required to unlock The Rift.
Key Mechanics
Arena-Wide Fire
Pyrophina’s signature attacks spread burning terrain across the board. Burn tiles deal damage to any cat standing on them at the end of the round. Multiple fires can ignite simultaneously, rapidly narrowing the safe tile count. Positioning and fire awareness are the primary skills this fight tests.
Burn Status
Cats hit directly by Pyrophina’s fire attacks may receive the Burn status effect, which deals damage-over-time on top of any tile-based fire damage. A cat taking fire tile damage and burning simultaneously takes heavy passive damage per round.
Preparation
Build a roster of retired cats that includes at least one class with fire resistance or a burn-cleanse ability before attempting Pyrophina. Classes with abilities that provide resistance or immunity to fire terrain are particularly valuable. Because she is a home boss, you cannot bring in-run items: rely entirely on cat abilities, class skills, and any permanent home upgrades.
Strategy
1. Identify fire-safe tiles each round before moving. Safe tiles are those not currently on fire and not in the spread path of Pyrophina’s current attack animation.
2. Keep cats spread across multiple safe zones rather than clustering. Fire AoE targets dense positions preferentially.
3. Assign a dedicated burn-cleanser or high-HP tank to absorb any unavoidable fire hits. Getting a glass-cannon cat caught in a fire sweep is usually fatal.
4. Deal sustained damage between her fire breath animations. Like most kaiju bosses, Pyrophina has brief repositioning windows between major attacks where she is vulnerable to focused DPS.
Drops
Pyrophina drops the Scalding Orb on defeat, a key quest item required to unlock The Rift, one of the late-game secret zones.
