Disorder
Gambling Addiction
+33% miss chance.
Gambling Addiction gives your cat a +33% miss chance on all attacks, meaning roughly one-third of your attacks will miss their target entirely. This is a significant accuracy penalty that makes the cat unreliable as a damage dealer, wasting turns and actions on missed attacks. The disorder has no apparent compensating benefit, making it one of the more frustrating disorders to deal with.
Gambling Addiction is heritable and can pass from parent to kitten through breeding. It can also be acquired through events or applied with a Disorder Syringe from the Organ Grinder. The +33% miss chance stacks with any existing miss chance from other sources like Punctured Eye (+10%), potentially making the cat barely able to hit anything. The miss chance applies to all attacks, not just basic attacks, so spells and abilities are also affected.
The best counter to Gambling Addiction is The Shining, which makes attacks unable to miss, completely negating the +33% miss penalty. If you have both disorders simultaneously, The Shining's accuracy guarantee overrides Gambling Addiction's miss chance, making the combination work perfectly. Without The Shining, Gambling Addiction should be replaced as soon as possible. It is particularly damaging on cats with slow, high-damage attacks where a miss represents a large loss. Cats with fast multi-hit attacks suffer less since the law of averages helps compensate.
