Enemy
Gein
Movement: 1
Gein is a gruesome Desert miniboss with 73 HP, 5 damage, 1 movement, and 5 Luck. Named after serial killer Ed Gein, this butcher-like enemy wears a human skin mask and fights with meat hooks, referencing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and classic cannibal horror tropes. Gein is one of four Desert minibosses, and uniquely, the class he corresponds to is not unlocked until after completing The Desert. He visually resembles the Butcher enemy type.
Despite having only 1 movement, Gein compensates with a hook ability that pulls units who end their movement within range, inflicting Bleed on contact. His melee spin attack hits nearby targets and spawns meat pickups on the battlefield, which he then actively seeks out and consumes to sustain himself. He also possesses Trample, allowing him to charge through units in his path. The combination of hooking, bleeding, meat generation, and consumption creates a self-sustaining combat loop where Gein heals by eating the resources his own attacks produce.
Maintaining distance is essential since Gein has extremely limited mobility and relies on his hook to close gaps. Stay out of hook range to deny him the ability to pull your cats into melee. A notable tactical exploit involves the Necrosis status: if your cat has Necrosis, any meat pickups spawned near Gein become poisoned. Gein will still be drawn to consume them, taking poison damage from eating his own tainted resources. Ranged attackers can safely chip away at his 73 HP from beyond hook range while avoiding his spin and trample. Gein has Champion and Robo variants.
