Zaratana

Zaratana is a colossal asteroid-like Kaiju and one of the two Act 2 House Bosses, appearing 7 days after the player completes The Moon for the first time. Described as "some sort of turtle-y moon beast," her body is composed of rocks and radiates galactic energy. She arrives with 600 HP, 4 damage, 3 movement, and 5 luck. Despite her enormous size, Zaratana occupies only 4 tiles on the battlefield. Her design is likely inspired by Gamera, the legendary Japanese turtle Kaiju, contrasting with Pyrophina's Godzilla-like appearance.

Zaratana's primary attack is Meteor Bombardment, which scatters rocks across the battlefield as projectiles. At the end of each round, she roars and grants Levitation to all rocks on the field (similar to the Rock Song ability), causing them to target enemies automatically. She also uses Trample to ram directly through the party, damaging anything in her path. The combination of persistent rock hazards and her trampling charges means the battlefield becomes increasingly dangerous with each passing round.

The Eat Rock ability is the strongest counter to Zaratana: each use deals 5 damage to her directly while granting the user +5 Shield and +1 Strength, effectively turning her own rocks against her. The Butcher ability can instantly eliminate all rocks in a single turn, neutralizing her round-end Levitation mechanic entirely. Defeating Zaratana rewards the Black Shard, a transformable quest weapon that grows stronger with each kill it earns. After 20 absorptions it becomes the Glowing Black Shard, which can instantly eliminate The Coven when used. Her battle theme is "Brush Your Teeth."
