Thunderstorm
Rain: 1; RandomLightning: 50; Windy: 1
Thunderstorm is one of the most chaotic and dangerous weather effects in Mewgenics, combining three separate mechanics into a single relentless environmental assault. It creates a Persistent Water Element (making all units Wet), blows every unit one tile in a random direction at the end of each round, and triggers a random lightning strike on the battlefield each turn.
The Persistent Water Element means all standard Rain interactions are in play: Fire is dampened, Electric and Ice are amplified, Burn is cured, and Fire Tiles are extinguished. But the added wind displacement and lightning strikes transform what would be a manageable water weather into something far more unpredictable.
Wind displacement at the end of each round affects every unit on the field, both friendly and hostile. This can break carefully planned formations, push melee cats away from their targets, shove ranged cats into enemy threat ranges, or knock units into environmental hazards like spikes, lava, or toxic waste. The displacement is one tile in a consistent random direction each round (indicated visually), but because it moves everything, relative positions shift in ways that are difficult to predict. Items or abilities that grant Knockback Resistance are exceptionally valuable during Thunderstorms, as they prevent or reduce the forced movement.
The random lightning strike deals Electric damage to a tile and any unit standing on it. Because all units are Wet from the Persistent Water Element, the lightning damage is amplified and can conduct to adjacent Wet units. A lightning strike hitting a cluster of enemies (or your own cats) can deal devastating chain damage. Spreading your team across the battlefield is essential to minimize the risk of multi-target lightning hits.
Thunderstorm demands flexible, reactive play. Rigid strategies that depend on precise positioning will struggle. Mobile builds with teleport, jump, or high movement speed fare much better, as they can quickly recover from displacement. Thunderstorm can appear in any biome.
