Enemy

Carnibulb

Movement: 1

The Carnibulb is a carnivorous plant enemy found in The Crater with 22 HP, infinite damage, and 0 base movement. Like the Daddy Shark, it possesses an instant-kill melee attack that devours anything it can reach, making direct contact immediately fatal. The Carnibulb starts completely stationary, but its movement grows over the course of the encounter as it spawns Sprout minions, gradually transforming from a static hazard into a mobile predator. It is immune to Poison and possibly inspired by Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors.

At the end of each turn, the Carnibulb summons a Sprout on a random tile, and each living Sprout adds +1 to the Carnibulb's movement speed. This means the longer the fight lasts, the faster and more dangerous the Carnibulb becomes. A Carnibulb that has spawned four or five Sprouts can cover significant ground each turn, turning what seemed like a safe distance into an immediate death zone. The Sprouts themselves also pose threats as independent enemies, creating a growing swarm that divides your attention between killing minions and avoiding the parent plant.

The golden rule against Carnibulbs is to stay well away from melee range at all times. Ranged attacks are essential, as there is no surviving a direct hit. Burn damage is particularly effective: the Carnibulb gains many stacks of Burn at the start of its turn when set on fire, allowing fire-based attacks to whittle it down rapidly. Killing Sprouts reduces the Carnibulb's movement, so clearing minions is both a crowd-control measure and a way to slow the parent plant. Champions have 44 HP and start with 1 movement, making them dangerous from the very first turn rather than requiring ramp-up time.
