Enemy
Scorpion Cat
Movement: 2
The Scorpion Cat is a low-movement Desert enemy that compensates for its slow speed with a broad toolkit of status-inflicting attacks. It has 5 HP plus 5 shield and starts combat with Brace 1, making it more durable than its raw HP suggests. Its attacks include claw strikes that can inflict Poison, a stinger that also applies Poison, and a grapple that inflicts Immobile on adjacent targets.
Despite its slow movement (2), the Scorpion Cat is dangerous up close because Immobile can lock a cat in place for a turn while Poison continues to tick. In Desert fights with multiple Scorpion Cats, a melee cat that gets grappled and poisoned simultaneously loses both an action and ongoing HP. The shield and Brace 1 mean it absorbs more punishment than a fragile-looking small enemy might suggest.
The wiki notes that Scorpion Cats are relatively frail despite their shield, and powering through them with direct damage is usually viable. Shield-piercing attacks or bleed bypass the Brace/shield buffer. Ranged cats can avoid the Immobile grapple entirely by staying out of melee range. Cleanse abilities help manage the Poison stacks, which are the most persistent threat even after the Scorpion Cat itself is dead.
