Brick Hat

The Brick Hat is a common head armor found exclusively in The Sewers, part of the Brick set alongside Brick Mask and Brick Necklace. It provides +4 Shield and inflicts Bruise 1 on any unit that makes contact with the wearer, at the cost of -1 Speed. The passive contact damage rewards stationary or slow-moving frontline positioning: enemies that close in to attack also eat a Bruise.

The Speed penalty matters less on tank-type cats that aren't moving aggressively anyway. Equipping the full Brick set compounds the contact-damage effect and the defensive stats. Best on cats planted at a chokepoint where enemies have no choice but to walk through them.

+4 Shield at common rarity with a meaningful Bruise contact proc is strong value in The Sewers, where many enemies are aggressive melee types that have to approach your cats directly. Pair the Brick Hat with Head Spring (10-tile knockback on incoming hits) to launch enemies away after they contact you, dealing Bruise on contact then blasting them into walls for collision damage. A full Brick set build with Head Spring creates a frontliner that punishes contact twice: once with Bruise, once with knockback impact.
